About Iris
Curious Iris the cat is always eager to make new friends, but a recent encounter with a possum left him with a painful tear in his cornea. A panicked Isabella, Iris’s guardian who was supervising Iris’s outdoor time, separated her sweet boy from the possum as quickly as she could, noticed the injury, and rushed Iris to the vet. Isabella followed the vet’s care instructions and brought Iris back for several re-checks. Unfortunately, Iris’s eye is progressively worsening. The vets have recommended that Iris’s eye be removed, as it’s beyond the point of healing and causing significant pain. If Iris’s eye were to become infected it would be extremely difficult to control and could quicky become life-threatening.
Isabella, who is 23 years old and lives independently, shared, “Iris has become my only emotional and mental support… I would do anything to ensure he gets the care he needs.” She continued, “he always has a little smirk on his face, loves sitting on shoulders, eats with his paws, and we’ll have conversations for hours. He loves road trips and adventures, likes dogs more than cats, and is a little too curious for his own good!”
A couple of years ago, Isabella was in a life-changing motor vehicle accident and has since been in and out of the hospital herself. Struggling to make ends meet and unable to work, it breaks her heart that she cannot afford the full cost of Iris’s surgery. Isabella has reached out to the VHS for help.
Can you donate today and be the reason Iris gets the care he needs to return home to Isabella?
