About Bane

Nine years ago, Paige welcomed Bane into her life, a tiny blue brindle pitbull puppy with a heart full of love. Over the years, he has grown into the cornerstone of her home, a 90 pound lap dog who insists on squeezing himself onto the couch between his people, greets every visitor with happy full-body wiggles, and serves as a patient pillow and devoted guardian to her three children.

Recently Paige’s world came crashing down. While stroking Bane’s side, she felt a small, hard lump on his hind leg. Tests have confirmed her worst fear. Bane has a mast cell tumor, an aggressive cancer that can quickly spread to his lymph nodes and organs. Bane needs urgent surgery  to remove the tumor and stop it from spreading.

This devastating diagnosis has come at an impossible time. Paige’s husband is out of work, and she is on maternity leave with their newest baby.  After barely covering rent, vehicle payments, and essentials, Paige has no funds left for this costly, life-saving procedure.

Paige told the VHS, “The thought of this disease spreading through the body of our steadfast friend is unbearable. He has no concept of what’s happening inside him; he just continues to offer unconditional love, completely unaware of the shadow looming over him. This surgery is his one shot to remove the threat and give him the future he so richly deserves. We are fighting for more time, for more memories, and for the anchor of our family to remain right here with us, safe and whole.”

Can you donate today to help Bane get the surgery he needs to remove his tumor and stay in the loving home where he belongs?

All gifts to the McVitie Fund are currently being matched up to $25,000. That means your donation will go twice as far to help pets like Bane return home to the people who love them.
